Samadhi - The Great Shark Hunter

Samadhi is our great shark hunter. Unfortunately the camera wasn’t quick enough. but we will tell the story anyway.

At the end of our daily walk a few days ago there was a lone fisherman at the end of our lane. While we watched him it became apparent that the has hooked something. When he pulled it up onto the beach the good little Scotts got VERY excited at the flipping and flopping in the sand. It was small so the fisherman carefully took the hook out and tossed it back into the surf. I couldn’t resist and let the Scotts go.

The “boys” ran into the surf but stopped as soon as their feet got wet. Not Samadhi! She ran full tilt into the surf after her fish until she got a good wave over her. Second thoughts prevailed so she just backed up into shallower water and barked at it’s exit. Yes it was about an 18” hammerhead shark. Cute little bugger.

Here is a picture of one of it’s big brothers.

Poor Bird

Tuffy and his friends have successfully defended the household from an innocent bird who wandered into the house when all was quiet.
Mom came home to a huge feather clean up job and big feather covered Scotty grins. Very proud of their success.
Unfortunately the word didn't get out to the avian community quickly enough because it happened a second time the next day. Now we close the doors during nap time when it is temptingly quiet.

Looking our Best

A very serious Tuffy.

Shivas never looked so regal.

Samadhi is ready for action.

These very professional photos were taken by their loving groomer, Michele, aka professional photographer. They spent the entire day with Michele. Later, they got to visit with their best friend, Missey, an adorable little black poodle. We all went for a walk to show off our new "dos".

Tuffy has a tough life

Sometimes you just need a little nap on a sunny afternoon.

Tuffy enjoying a warm Poolside Sunbath

Tuffy does not like to swim in the pool or the ocean. Tuffy only likes his bath. It is a great day for Tuffy when he has a good warm bath, a little sunshine and a clean fresh bed. As soon as his clean bed is ready he will jump in and roll and roll while roaring with delight.

Easy to Make Applesauce Cookies

Yummy Applesauce Cookies

Ingredients:
2 1/3 cups flour -- all-purpose or whole wheat
1/4 cup olive oil
1/4 cup applesauce
1/2 cup grated cheese -- like parmesan or goat cheese
1 large egg
1 teaspoon garlic powder or fresh chopped garlic
1/4 cup powdered milk -- non-fat

Instructions:
Combine all ingredients in a large bowl; mix well; Roll the dough out to size of a cookie sheet; Pat the dough onto a lightly greased cookie sheet, bringing it to the edges. Using a sharp knife or a pizza cutter, cut desired sizes into dough (just score through). If you're using as training treats, cut them into small pieces; Sprinkle a little extra cheese and garlic powder if desired on dough for flavor. Bake in a 350 degree oven about 15 minutes until golden brown. Turn off the oven and let cool for a few hours; They will keep hardening the longer you leave them. Break them apart; store tightly covered or in the freezer.

Favorite Cookie Recipe

My Scotties' Favorite Cookies

This was not my original recipe as I have modified it to suite us.

2 C Raw carrots
1/4 C Chopped raw garlic (I am very generous with the garlic)
Two eggs (I use shell and all for the extra calcium)
Process in food processor until smooth and blended.

2 C Whole wheat or rice or rye flour
1/4 C Fresh wheat germ
1 C Rolled oats

Blend and add the moist ingredients and mix until smooth. Form into a ball and roll out on a floured board. Cut into bars or shapes. For a glossy finish, brush with egg whites before baking. Bake at 300 degrees for 45 minutes or to desired crunchiness.

You can depend on having a kitchen floor covered with patient Scotties.
